Ridgewood home transformed into movie set for new Netflix film: Details revealed
Lights, camera, action in Ridgewood! A home in Ridgewood has been transformed into a movie set for an upcoming Netflix film. The director of communications and special projects for Ridgewood, Carol Bialkowski, shared that signs, lighting fixtures, and other equipment were spotted outside the Meadowbrook Avenue home. Exciting stuff!
While the name of the film is under wraps for now, we do know that it’s a Netflix movie and filming has been taking place in various locations around Ridgewood, including Benjamin Franklin Middle School. It’s a bustling time for filming, especially since just two weeks ago, Netflix’s “Don’t Say Good Luck” was filmed at the same middle school.
The film, starring Adam Sandler’s daughter Sunny, tells the story of a teen who lands the lead role in her high school play. But drama doesn’t just stay on the stage; it follows her home too! Joining Sunny in the cast are Steve Buscemi, Melanie Lynskey, and Max Greenfield, among others. Sounds like a star-studded affair!
Although filming was expected at the Meadowbrook Avenue home, plans seemed to have shifted. As of August 13, Bialkowski mentioned in an email that the scene might have been cut. With all the action happening, it’s no surprise that things can change in a flash!
As for an official release date for “Don’t Say Good Luck,” that’s still up in the air. But one thing’s for sure – New Jersey is drawing in filmmakers left and right. From tax breaks to new films, like one starring Natalie Portman and Mark Ruffalo in Verona and Robert De Niro spotted in Paterson for Netflix’s “The Whisper Man,” the state is certainly in the spotlight. Even Sandler’s “Happy Gilmore 2” had scenes filmed across North Jersey counties in 2024. Looks like New Jersey is the place to be for movie magic! Keep your eyes peeled for more lights, camera, action moments in Ridgewood and beyond.
