Netflix Consumer Products Chief Joins Funko as CEO

Netflix executive Josh Simon is stepping into a new role as CEO of Funko after five years at Netflix. As the vice president of consumer products at Netflix, Simon led the global merchandise business, live experiences, and the Roald Dahl Story Company. He’s the mastermind behind popular products tied to Netflix hits like Stranger Things, Bridgerton, and Squid Game. Simon even pioneered Netflix’s first e-commerce platform for consumer products and played a key role in the growth of Netflix’s Experiences business.

Stepping into his new role at Funko, Simon takes the reins from interim CEO Mike Lunsford starting September 1st. He will also join the Funko board of directors. Funko, known for creating pop culture bobbleheads and collectibles, is excited to welcome Simon as its new CEO. Funko’s Chairman of the Board, Charles Denson, is thrilled about Simon’s appointment, citing his leadership skills and extensive experience in entertainment and consumer products.

Prior to his time at Netflix, Simon held senior management positions at Nike, where he served as the vice president in charge of global strategy for product, design, merchandising, and categories. His expertise in operations, licensing, and strategy, combined with his experience at esteemed companies like Nike, Netflix, and The Walt Disney Company, make him a valuable addition to Funko’s leadership team. Funko looks forward to tapping into Simon’s knowledge and skills to drive growth and seize new opportunities in the future.
