Top Streaming Shows: Squid Game and Love Island USA Maintaining High Ratings
The latest streaming ratings are in, and it’s no surprise that “Squid Game” and “Love Island USA” are still holding strong at the top. Although both shows saw a slight dip in viewing time, they remain the top two shows on Nielsen’s streaming charts for the second week in a row. Meanwhile, a couple of new movies made a splash with strong openings.
“Squid Game” continued its impressive run, racking up 2.87 billion minutes of viewing on Netflix for the week of June 30-July 6. This marks the sixth-highest weekly total for any show in 2025, with “Squid Game” claiming two other spots in the top rankings. The Korean sensation previously hit 3.2 billion minutes the week before and a whopping 4.6 billion in the first week of the year after the release of season two.
On the other hand, “Love Island USA” couldn’t quite reach a fourth consecutive week of record-high viewing levels. However, the Peacock dating show still managed a strong showing with 1.7 billion viewing minutes, just slightly down from the previous week’s 1.78 billion. Peacock’s internal data even shows that season seven of the show is its most-watched ever.
In the movie rankings, Prime Video’s “Heads of State,” starring John Cena and Idris Elba, made a splash with 1.1 billion minutes of watch time following its July 2 premiere. The action comedy ranked fifth overall among streaming titles in the U.S., outpacing Netflix’s “The Old Guard 2,” which debuted on the same day and garnered 964 million minutes.
And for fans of FX’s “The Bear,” the show maintained a steady viewership in the second week after the fourth season premiere, clocking in at 892 million viewing minutes. It’s clear that streaming audiences have a diverse range of tastes, with both established hits and new releases making waves in the rankings.
