Broadway Stars Andrew Rannells and Josh Gad to Develop Comedy Series for Hulu

Broadway buddies Andrew Rannells and Josh Gad are teaming up again, this time for a new comedy series based on the 1992 film Stay Tuned. The show, set for streaming on Hulu, will feature Rannells and Gad in leading roles and as executive producers.

In the original movie, a couple is sucked into their TV and faces a battle for survival in a day filled with TV shows. The series, crafted by Akiva Goldsman, Jordan Cahan, and Greg Lassans, will put a fresh spin on the story by focusing on the comedic dynamic between the two male leads, with Cahan serving as showrunner.

Rannells and Gad go way back, from their breakthrough performances in Broadway’s The Book of Mormon – Rannells as Elder Price and Gad as Elder Cunningham, both receiving Tony nominations. Following their onstage collaboration in 2023’s Gutenberg! The Musical!, Stay Tuned marks their first significant TV team-up, aside from brief cameos in History of the World, Part II.

While there’s no official series confirmation yet, and no details on production timelines have been revealed, fans can look forward to seeing this dynamic duo back in action on the small screen. The original flick starred Pam Dawber and the late John Ritter, making it a nostalgic gem worth revisiting.
