Dr. Zita Lobo Releases First Novel Peacock, Python and Esther in Mangaluru
The debut novel, “Peacock, Python, and Esther” by Dr. Zita Lobo, academician, artist, and author, was recently launched in Mangaluru at The Ocean Pearl Hotel. The event, co-hosted by the Mangaluru-Udupi Chapter of the Indian Society for Training and Development (ISTD), brought together literary enthusiasts, scholars, and readers for a celebration of contemporary Indian fiction.
The novel, set in the coastal town of Honnavara, dives into themes of vanity, survival, and transformation through the eyes of a young woman on a journey of self-discovery amidst societal norms. Dr. Zita Lobo employs elements of magical realism to explore the clash between tradition and modernity while delving into issues like patriarchy, emotional healing, and personal growth.
During the launch, Dr. Zita Lobo spoke about the inspiration behind her work, touching on the evolution of humanity from animals to complex beings. She shared her hope for stories that unite humanity, emphasizing the shedding of old beliefs for growth and renewal. The event also featured a reading from the book, giving attendees a taste of the narrative style.
