ABC News Studios Acquires ‘Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery’ Documentary

ABC News Studios has acquired the rights to stream “Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery,” a documentary by director Ally Pankiw about the iconic 1990s music festival, Lilith Fair. The documentary features Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan and will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival before airing on CBC in Canada on September 17. American audiences can catch the documentary on Hulu and Disney+ starting September 21.

In addition to the documentary, Sarah McLachlan will release her first studio album in over a decade, “Better Broken,” on September 19, and embark on a Canadian concert tour. The film promises to capture the essence of the all-female music festival that brought women together to create positive change in the world.

McLachlan expressed her pride and nostalgia for the project, highlighting the magic and strength of the women’s community portrayed in the documentary. The film features interviews with notable artists such as Sheryl Crow, Brandi Carlile, Erykah Badu, Bonnie Raitt, Jewel, and Olivia Rodrigo.

Produced by Dan Levy’s Not a Real Production Company and indie Canadian distributor Elevation Pictures, “Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery” presents a captivating look at the historic music festival through the eyes of the women who lived it.
