Mehcad Brooks to Depart ‘Law & Order’ After 3 Seasons

Mehcad Brooks, known for his role as Detective Jalen Shaw on Law & Order, is saying goodbye to the show after three seasons. He joined the cast following Anthony Anderson’s departure, who had a one-year deal for the show’s return to television.

This was a significant role for Brooks, especially after his time on The CW’s Supergirl for six seasons. According to Deadline, sources revealed that the decision for Brooks to leave was mutual, as he is looking into other opportunities.

As for the cast of Law & Order Season 25, we can expect to see Tony Goldwyn, Reid Scott, Hugh Dancy, Odelya Halevi, and Maura Tierny reprising their roles. While Dancy, Halevi, and Tierney are confirmed to return, there’s no news yet on Goldwyn and Scott’s contracts.

The show is currently in the process of casting a new detective to fill Brooks’ shoes. In the meantime, fans can catch Brooks in the current season of HBO Max’s And Just Like That and watch him in theaters this fall for Mortal Kombat II, where he will be reprising his role from the first film.

Although the exact premiere date for Law & Order Season 25 is not known, we can anticipate its debut in the upcoming fall season of 2025-26 on broadcast television. Stay tuned for more updates on this long-running procedural series!
