Rachel Scott and James Longman to Co-Anchor Daily ABC News Program on Disney+

Disney+ is bringing the news to your screen with a new original program from ABC News! Starting July 21, senior political correspondent Rachel Scott and international correspondent James Longman will be co-anchoring “What You Need To Know.” This short-form program will be available on demand each morning at 6 a.m. Eastern for Disney+ users.

Originally the title of ABC’s afternoon edition of “Good Morning America,” this revamped version is tailor-made for the streaming generation. With quick segments covering breaking news, top stories, entertainment buzz, and viral videos, it’s designed to catch you up in a flash.

For Rachel Scott, this is her network anchor debut, and she’s proven herself as a rising star within ABC News. Hailing from Los Angeles, she made waves during the 2024 presidential campaign with her tough questions for President Trump. Unfortunately, her strong stance led to death threats, requiring increased security.

James Longman, who has been reporting for ABC News as a foreign correspondent since 2017, will be joining Scott from London, where he’s based. His reporting often focuses on LGBTQ+ issues in oppressive regimes globally, and he even authored a memoir titled “The Inherited Mind,” exploring his family’s history of mental illness.

This move from ABC News to expand its presence on Disney+ showcases a deliberate effort to engage and connect with new, diverse audiences. So get ready to stay informed and entertained with “What You Need To Know” on Disney+!
