Top 10 Streaming Shows of the Year, Featuring Apple TV+
We’re well into 2025, and it seems like Apple TV+ is having a fantastic year. But what really matters in the world of streaming is the Nielsen top 10 list. Let’s dive into the top 10 shows in streaming this year and see how Apple TV+ is doing.
Yesterday in the latest Screentime newsletter, Bloomberg’s Lucas Shaw unveiled the Nielsen top 10 shows of 2025 so far. Here’s the full rundown:
1. Squid Game (Netflix) – 15,074 million minutes
2. Reacher (Prime Video) – 13,313 million minutes
3. The Night Agent (Netflix) – 12,219 million minutes
4. Ginny & Georgia (Netflix) – 10,201 million minutes
5. Severance (Apple TV+) – 9,275 million minutes
6. 1923 (Paramount+) – 8,536 million minutes
7. The Pitt (Max) – 8,227 million minutes
8. The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu) – 8,165 million minutes
9. You (Netflix) – 8,097 million minutes
10. Landman (Paramount+) – 7,826 million minutes
It’s essential to note a caveat mentioned by Shaw. Shows like The White Lotus and The Last of Us, even though they’ve been huge in streaming, premiered on HBO’s linear network and are not counted in the Nielsen streaming list.
Despite this caveat, it’s exciting to see Severance at number 5 on the list, showing how much of a hit it has been for Apple TV+. With Nielsen being a trusted source for ranking streaming viewership, Severance’s success is even more noteworthy considering Apple TV+’s smaller subscriber base compared to Netflix and Prime Video.
Even though other Apple TV+ shows like The Studio and Your Friends & Neighbors have strong viewership, they didn’t make it to the top 10 due to competition from bigger streaming platforms.
Apple TV+ is priced at $9.99 per month and offers popular shows like Ted Lasso, Severance, The Morning Show, Silo, and Shrinking. If you’re looking for quality entertainment, Apple TV+ might be worth checking out!
