Jennette McCurdy Memoir Adapted into Apple TV+ Series: ‘I’m Glad My Mom Died’

Los Angeles will soon see a new Apple TV+ series starring Jennifer Aniston, in a role inspired by Jennette McCurdy’s mom in her memoir “I’m Glad My Mom Died.” This 10-episode dramedy, created by McCurdy and Ari Katcher, will have the pair leading as co-showrunners and executive producers alongside Aniston.

McCurdy, who found fame on Nickelodeon shows like “iCarly” and “Sam & Cat,” bravely recounted in her bestselling book the challenges of dealing with her mother’s terminal illness and Hollywood stardom at a young age. The fictionalized series revolves around the intense mother-daughter bond between a young actress from a beloved kids’ show and her self-absorbed mother, without revealing the child star’s casting just yet.

In a candid confession, McCurdy shared how years of therapy were instrumental in processing her complicated feelings after her mother’s death in 2013 from cancer, leading to the daring book title. Reflecting on her challenging past, she expressed the intricate mix of love, anger, and grief typical in abusive relationships.

Apple TV+ has tapped Aniston, who previously worked with the streaming service on “The Morning Show,” to star and executive produce the series, tentatively titled after McCurdy’s provocative memoir. Aniston looks forward to this new project post-“The Morning Show” and is eager to bring her expertise to it.

Both a revealing celebrity memoir and a cautionary tale about the dark side of fame, Jennette McCurdy’s journey from child star to Hollywood success deserves attention and respect. Stay tuned for more updates as production unfolds!
