Paramount+ Premium: Changes for Showtime Subscribers

Paramount+ has made a change that might surprise some Showtime subscribers. The ad-free plan, previously known as Paramount+ with Showtime, is now called Paramount+ Premium. This top-tier plan, along with Paramount+ Essential, gives viewers a range of options to choose from.

The reason for the name change? Paramount explained that since they recently added some Showtime programming to the Essential plan, the name Premium better reflects the range of offerings across both plan tiers. This change aims to simplify things and reduce confusion between the packages.

But don’t worry, if you’re an existing customer, this name change won’t affect your current plan benefits or prices. You’ll still enjoy ad-free streaming, access to all of Showtime, CBS News 24/7, over 40,000 full episodes of television and hit movies on demand, and local, live CBS stations. Plus, you’ll get to watch NFL on CBS and UEFA Champions League live. Showtime content still plays a significant role on Paramount+.

And what about the price? The pricing for the premium package remains the same at $12.99 per month or $119.99 per year. Meanwhile, Paramount+ Essential is available at $7.99 per month or $59.99 per year.

This move comes just two years after the previous rebranding that combined Showtime with Paramount+ to create Paramount+ with Showtime. The standalone Showtime app was phased out entirely in 2024.

It’s worth noting that there is a difference between Paramount+ Premium on a TV provider network and Paramount+ Premium on the streaming service. Paramount+ Premium as a TV channel is available through providers like cable, satellite, or streaming television. On the other hand, Paramount+ Premium is one of the subscription plans offered directly by Paramount+.

So, even though the name has changed, the great content and benefits you love are here to stay!
