First Look at Javier Bardem as Max Cady in Apple TV+ Adaptation: Cape Fear Set Photos

Apple TV+ is gearing up for its upcoming series adaptation of Cape Fear, and some set photos have given us a sneak peek at Javier Bardem as Max Cady and Amy Adams as Amanda Bowden. This fresh take on Max Cady looks different from the version we saw in Martin Scorsese’s ’90s adaptation, played by Robert De Niro.

Nick Antosca is leading the way as the writer, executive producer, and showrunner for this 10-episode series. The project is also getting a boost from industry heavyweights Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese, who are on board as executive producers.

In this reimagining, there’s speculation that Amanda, played by Amy Adams, could have a bigger role, possibly as Cady’s former attorney. Patrick Wilson will join the cast as Amanda’s husband, Sam Bowden.

Based on the John D. MacDonald novel The Executioners, which inspired the original film adaptations, the new Cape Fear promises to be a tense, Hitchcockian thriller. This time, we’ll see Max Cady, an infamous killer, returning to terrorize happily married attorneys Amanda and Steve Bowden.

Antosca, along with Alex Hedlund and Bardem, will serve as executive producers. Amblin Television is involved in the production, building on their previous collaborations with Apple. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project!
