‘Oldboy’ Screenwriter debuts Korean Crime Series ‘Gold Land’ on Disney+

Disney+ has just announced its latest Korean original series, ”Gold Land,” created by the talented Oldboy screenwriter, Hwang Joyoon. Directed by Kim Sunghoon, known for Chief Detective 1958, the series promises to be a gritty crime thriller set in rural Korea, filled with suspense and tension.

The story revolves around Kim Heeju, played by Park Boyoung from Light Shop, who accidentally ends up with gold bars that belong to a dangerous smuggling syndicate. As she finds herself on the run from the criminal network, Heeju must return to her hometown, facing her past and fighting for survival in a thrilling pursuit.

Joining Park Boyoung is Kim Sung Cheol, known for his roles in No Way Out: The Roulette and Troll Factory, portraying the character of Jang Wook, also known as “Woogy,” a menacing figure from Heeju’s past tasked with hunting her down for the syndicate.

The series, spearheaded by Hwang Joyoon, promises an intense mix of suspense, action, and emotional depth, drawing inspiration from his previous successful films like Rampant and Memoir of a Murderer. While the release date for ”Gold Land” is yet to be announced, fans can expect an engrossing and captivating viewing experience.
