Exploring the Gilgo Beach serial killer’s home with 50 Cent’s latest true crime project
A rundown red house in Massapequa Park, Long Island, gained attention following an arrest in the Gilgo Beach serial killings. Rex Heuermann, the man charged with the murders of seven women dating back to the 1990s, is said to have led a double life—a regular family man by day, and a serial killer by night.
Officials claim that Heuermann met escorts, tortured and killed them, before dumping their bodies along a secluded stretch of parkway on Long Island. After Heuermann’s arrest in July 2023, shocking evidence emerged suggesting that he operated out of his own basement beneath where he lived with his family. Police discovered over 200 guns and gruesome manuals in the basement, indicating torture techniques and how to kill women.
The house quickly became a focal point for media crews, true crime fans, and investigators, turning the once-quiet neighborhood into a spectacle. Recently, a new docuseries by 50 Cent called “Gilgo Beach Killer: The House Of Secrets” offers a peek inside the suspect’s home for the first time. The series, set to debut on NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock on June 10, promises unprecedented access and interviews with Heuermann’s family, shedding light on the alleged double life he led.
Although 50 Cent’s involvement in the true crime project surprised many, the rapper has ventured beyond music into producing gritty dramas and real-life crime stories. Despite some backlash on social media, including criticism of a promotional image featuring Asa Ellerup, Heuermann’s wife, preparing for an interview in the basement where the crimes allegedly took place, the series aims to delve deep into the chilling story.
Ellerup, who filed for divorce shortly after Heuermann’s arrest, is not being paid for her participation in the documentary but received a licensing fee for providing archival footage. Her involvement in the project has raised questions, but the docuseries offers a unique opportunity to explore the dark secrets hidden within the walls of the alleged Gilgo Beach serial killer’s home.
