School Spirits Seasons 2-3 Not Coming to Netflix; Season 1 Leaving in May 2025
After enchanting audiences for a year and a half, the first season of School Spirits is bidding farewell to Netflix in the United States. An announcement has popped up on the show’s page, letting fans know that all eight episodes of the first season will be leaving the streaming platform on May 30th, so make sure to catch them one last time by May 29th. This news arrives hot on the heels of the show being renewed for a third season on Paramount+.
In late 2023, Netflix secured the US rights to School Spirits, surprising many with this move as it marked the first time a major Paramount+ Original series had been licensed to a streaming service while still in production. Starring Peyton List from Cobra Kai and created by Megan Trinrud and Nate Trinrud, the series follows a girl navigating the afterlife while investigating her own disappearance, embarking on a crime-solving adventure as she navigates high school purgatory.
Previously, we treaded with caution when discussing the possibility of season 2 of School Spirits coming to Netflix. While reports indicated that the show had been licensed for a longer term than initially expected, we highlighted that Paramount+ might be renewing the series to maintain interest and draw viewers to Paramount+. Season 2 aired from January to March 2025, and it seems like this strategy worked well for Paramount+, as Deadline reported a 94% increase in viewership for the season 2 premiere compared to season 1.
Although fans had hoped for Netflix to continue streaming the show after its Paramount+ release, unfortunately, that won’t be happening. Stay tuned to What’s on Netflix for updates on what else is leaving the platform in the US in May 2025. And remember, School Spirits isn’t the only popular series making its exit – keep an eye out for the acclaimed Benedict Cumberbatch limited series, Patrick Melrose, leaving alongside School Spirits in late May 2025.
