Kanye West’s Donda 2 album removed from streaming services shortly after release
Kanye West surprised fans by dropping his long-awaited album, Donda 2, on streaming platforms, only to have it swiftly removed after facing legal threats. The rapper, also known as Ye, initially released the album on his platform, Stem Player, before it made its way onto platforms like Spotify, Tidal, and YouTube Music.
However, trouble arose when DeAndre “Free” Maiden, manager of producers Jahmal “Boogz Da Beast” Gwin and Brian “AllDay” Miller, reached out to West demanding the album be taken down. The producers claimed they were not paid for their work on eight out of the 18 tracks on Donda 2.
In a social media post, West shared a message from Maiden stating their disapproval of the use of their work without compensation, threatening legal action to have the album removed. West fired back, accusing Maiden of attempting to charge him $3 million for beats made by individuals he taught how to produce.
This isn’t the first time West has run into trouble online. Recently, he was banned from Twitch just seven minutes into his first stream for making offensive and antisemitic remarks. The controversial rapper has been known for his controversial statements and actions, which often result in backlash and bans from various platforms.
In related news, actor David Schwimmer called on Elon Musk to ban Kanye West from X after a series of antisemitic posts. Schwimmer urged Musk to stop giving West a platform for spreading hate-filled messages.
Overall, the whirlwind of legal threats and controversy surrounding Kanye West’s Donda 2 release serves as a reminder of the rapper’s tumultuous relationship with the online world and the repercussions of his actions.
