Jacob Elordi Stars in “The Narrow Road to the Deep North” Trailer: Epic WWII Series by Justin Kurzel
The first trailer for the upcoming miniseries adaptation of Richard Flanagan’s award-winning novel, “The Narrow Road to the Deep North,” has just been released. Starring Jacob Elordi in the lead role, the series follows the story of a young doctor named Dorrigo Evans during World War II.
Elordi plays the role of Dorrigo, a man from Tasmania with a complicated past, including an affair with his uncle’s wife. When Australia enters the war against the Axis powers, Dorrigo joins the army and finds himself captured, forced to work on the construction of the Burma railroads, where many Allied POWs lost their lives.
The cast also includes Ciarán Hinds as an older Dorrigo, along with Odessa Young, Olivia DeJonge, Heather Mitchell, Show Kasamatsu, Thomas Weatherall, and Simon Baker. Early reviews from the Berlin Film Festival, where two episodes were screened, praise the series for its potential to be a nuanced and compassionate portrayal of Australians at war. Critics have drawn comparisons to iconic war films like “Gallipoli” and “Breaker Morant.”
Prepare to dive into this epic WWII story when “The Narrow Road to the Deep North” premieres on Amazon Prime Video Australia on April 18.
