Prime Video Cancels Comedy ‘Pradeeps of Pittsburgh’ on TV Talk
Prime Video has decided to cancel the Pittsburgh-set comedy “Pradeeps of Pittsburgh” after just one season. Although the show was filmed in Toronto, it was created by veteran TV comedy writer Vijal Patel, who drew inspiration from his childhood in Monroeville.
The series told its story through flashbacks and ended its first season on a cliffhanger, leaving viewers wanting more. Despite creator Patel’s confidence in the show and plans for a second season, Prime Video made the decision to cancel it.
This cancellation is part of a trend for Prime Video, as they have recently canceled all of their half-hour comedies, including another Pittsburgh-set show called “Dinner with the Parents.” This doesn’t bode well for the future of their new comedy “Clean Slate.”
In more positive news, the Pittsburgh-filmed series “Mayor of Kingstown” continues to add to its star-studded cast, with Edie Falco, Lennie James, and Laura Benanti joining for the upcoming fourth season. Additionally, Tubi’s new original comedy “The Z Suite,” starring Lauren Graham, is now streaming with the first two episodes available.
Fans of horror can look forward to the second season of “The Creep Tapes” on Shudder and the return of “English Teacher” on FX. Premiere dates have been announced for PBS’s drama series “Marie Antoinette,” Fox’s “The Cleaning Lady” and “Alert: Missing Persons Unit,” and PBS’s “Call the Midwife.”
Lastly, Fred Rogers Productions has received a grant to support funding for their Writers’ Neighborhood Program and community engagement events tied to their PBS Kids show “Alma’s Way.” This program aims to help emerging writers build careers in children’s media.
