New Movie Knocks ‘Voicemails For Isabelle’ Off Netflix’s Top 10 List

Netflix has a new romantic comedy hit on its hands with “Voicemails for Isabelle,” scoring an impressive 91% on Rotten Tomatoes. The film has been dominating the top spot on Netflix’s list since its release but has now been bumped down by a new comedy called “Little Brother,” starring John Cena, Eric Andre, and Michelle Monaghan.

In “Little Brother,” an uptight realtor’s life is turned upside down by the return of his wild younger sibling. While it’s not entirely clear why “little brother” is in quotes, we may need to watch the movie to find out. With Eric Andre’s comedic talent and John Cena’s transition between action and comedy, this film promises to be a fun ride.

Despite its initial success, “Voicemails for Isabelle” has received a 53% Rotten Tomatoes score, which is not surprising based on the previews. Comedies tend to struggle with high numbers on Netflix, with only one outright comedy, “Don’t Look Up,” making it to the top 10 of all time list.

“Voicemails for Isabelle” remains a significant win for Netflix, just behind the True Crime hit “Maternal Instinct.” While a sequel is unlikely due to the storyline and lengthy production time, there’s a chance we might see more projects from writer/director Leah McKendrick in the future.

The current top 10 list on Netflix is dominated by kids’ movies, with “Little Brother” poised to try and retain its position at the top. John Cena’s star power might help, but unless there’s a strong word-of-mouth buzz, it might not stay there for long. Keep an eye out in the next few days to see if “Voicemails for Isabelle” reclaims its throne.
