Fresh Look at David Corenswet as Superman in New ‘Supergirl’ Trailer
The latest trailer for the upcoming film Supergirl from DC Studios showcases David Corenswet’s appearance as Superman. Released by DC Studios co-chairman James Gunn, this sneak peek sets the stage for an intriguing relationship between the titular heroine, played by Milly Alcock, and her famous cousin.
Initially expected to have a limited role, recent promotional material suggests that Superman’s presence in the story may be more significant than previously thought. This connection between Supergirl and the DC film universe launched with 2025’s Superman film continues to unfold.
In the trailer, Corenswet’s Superman offers guidance and a new superhero suit to Alcock’s Kara Zor-El. Director Craig Gillespie delves into the contrast between the characters’ upbringings and their approach to their powers. While Clark Kent had a stable upbringing, Kara experienced the devastation of Krypton’s destruction before arriving on Earth. This difference creates a complex dynamic between the relatives, showcasing their diverse views on heroism. In the trailer, Kara points out this disparity, stating, “He perceives the good in everyone while I recognize the reality.”
Directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, Supergirl is based on the acclaimed Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic series by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. Alongside Corenswet and Alcock, the cast includes Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and Jason Momoa as Lobo.
Supergirl is set to hit theaters and IMAX screens on June 26. Check out the trailer HERE for a sneak peek at the highly anticipated film.
