Prime Video Expands beyond Streaming to Create APAC Entertainment Hub

Prime Video is making big moves in Asia-Pacific with a plan to become a go-to entertainment destination in the region. At the APOS conference, top executives shared how Prime Video is shaping the future of streaming by focusing on building an ecosystem that caters to both local needs and global content.

Gaurav Gandhi, VP of APAC and ANZ at Prime Video, sees the region as a key testing ground for their business model. He highlighted the importance of balancing local market demands while maintaining a consistent global platform strategy.

Gandhi emphasized that every market is unique, but Prime Video’s goal is to provide various benefits through a unified business model. They are working with over 600 partners worldwide to create a seamless viewing experience for users.

Rather than just being a streaming service, Prime Video aims to be an all-in-one entertainment hub that offers content, distribution, and consumer convenience all in one place. Their focus is on providing a wide range of high-quality content with added value for viewers.

In Japan and India, two of its largest markets, Prime Video has tailored its strategy to suit local audience preferences. Keisuke Oishi, the country manager for Prime Video Japan, shared insights from the platform’s 10-year journey in the country. When Prime Video launched in Japan in 2015, subscription streaming was still a new concept for Japanese consumers, despite its popularity in other regions.

Throughout the past decade, Prime Video has expanded its content offerings to meet the evolving preferences of viewers in Japan and India. Their approach to curating content and enhancing user experience showcases their commitment to delivering a top-notch entertainment platform in the region.
