Ponies Competes at Monte-Carlo TV Festival

Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson star in the spy thriller “Ponies,” while Ella Bruccoleri and Richard E. Grant headline “The Other Bennet Sister” competing for the Golden Nymph Award at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival starting Friday. The jury, chaired by Lesley Manville, includes Kevin McKidd, Greg Daniels, Frédérique Bel, Hojin Kwon, and Yasmin Finney.

“Ponies,” from Universal Television, is set in 1970s Moscow and follows two secretaries at the American embassy who become CIA operatives after their husbands are killed, uncovering a Cold War conspiracy behind the tragedy. “The Other Bennet Sister,” based on Janice Hadlow’s novel, focuses on Mary, the forgotten sister in “Pride and Prejudice,” produced by Bad Wolf.

Another competitor is the crime drama “Gone,” featuring David Morrissey as a headteacher whose wife goes missing, and Eve Myles as the detective on the case. The festival promises an exciting lineup of drama series and TV movies vying for the prestigious Golden Nymph Award.
