Pepe Matias, a resident of Fortuna, recently took to Facebook to share an update on the ongoing search for his runaway peacock, El Chapo. Despite numerous sightings and community efforts, El Chapo remains at large. The peacock’s escapades have sparked interest and unity in the Fortuna community, with local businesses offering rewards for his safe capture.

According to Matias, El Chapo’s escape occurred as he was preparing to clip the bird’s wings. The rebellious peacock had a sense of adventure and flew off onto a neighbor’s roof, evading capture. Matias regularly updates the Fortuna Happenings group in hopes of receiving information on El Chapo’s whereabouts, but the bird always manages to elude capture before he arrives.

Matias expressed gratitude for the community’s support in tracking down El Chapo and suggested luring the peacock with food to safely capture him.
