Ellen Pompeo Stars in Hulu Pilot ‘Chicks’: What to Expect

Ellen Pompeo is teaming up with Hulu for a new pilot called “Chicks,” written by Katie Robbins, known for her work on “Good American Family.” In this dramedy, Pompeo will both star in and executive produce the pilot alongside Laura Holstein. The pilot, produced by 20th Television, is set in the changing neighborhoods of old Boston and follows Chickie (Pompeo) and Doreen, two estranged half-sisters who are left to navigate life after their father’s passing, along with a legacy of minor crimes that push them into increasingly bold scams. As their schemes grow, so does their unlikely bond, filling the void left by their father.

The idea for “Chicks” sprang from conversations between Pompeo and Robbins while working together on “Good American Family.” This new project comes after Pompeo’s stepping back from her long-running role on “Grey’s Anatomy,” marking her return to screen with a fresh and exciting premise. Joining Pompeo in the pilot are Jay Duplass and Imogen Faith Reed, adding more depth to what promises to be an engaging and entertaining series.
