Kevin Iwashina Joins TV Academy Foundation Board for Rafu Shimpo

The Television Academy Foundation recently welcomed three new members to its board of directors. Among them is Kevin Iwashina, co-founder of Metzger Iwashina Media, who will serve a three-year term. Also joining the board is noted entertainment attorney Allison Binder and Banijay Americas CEO Ben Samek.

Tina Perry, the foundation’s chair, expressed excitement about the new additions to the board. She highlighted their industry expertise and relationships, emphasizing the role they will play in advancing the Foundation’s initiatives to support emerging talent in the television industry.

Iwashina, known for his work at Audivisuel, a film and documentary sales, distribution, and finance advisory company, has achieved several career milestones. These include brokering the sale of “Hamilton” to The Walt Disney Company, overseeing the distribution of original documentaries to major streaming platforms, and securing financing for acclaimed films like “Crash” and “The Hurt Locker.”

Most recently, Iwashina facilitated the sale of live performances of “Merrily We Roll Along” and “Hadestown” to prominent production companies. His work also includes documentaries like “Hoops, Hopes & Dreams,” “Long Shot,” and the popular film “Jiro Dreams of Sushi.”

The Television Academy Foundation is committed to nurturing future Emmy winners by identifying and supporting emerging leaders in the television industry. Their programs, such as internships and awards, aim to provide opportunities for young talent to kickstart their careers in television.
