Canada’s Wonderland weekend disaster: What happened?
Canada’s Wonderland had a challenging weekend, with some setbacks at the Splash Works water park and two roller coasters running into trouble. Videos started circling online over the weekend, showing Leviathan and Behemoth going through what’s known as “valleying” incidents. This is when the coasters lose momentum and get stuck in low points on the track.
The riders on these coasters must have been quite shaken up, especially considering the unseasonably cold weather and heavy rain that hit the park. These weather conditions can actually make it more likely for coasters to valley, according to experts.
Even though the videos may look alarming, a spokesperson for Wonderland, Grace Peacock, emphasizes that there was no danger to guests during these incidents. She explained to blogTO that the rides just couldn’t complete their normal circuits due to the cold and windy weather.
It’s definitely a relief to hear that everyone is safe, and it’s a good reminder to always keep an eye on the weather forecast before planning a day of roller coaster thrills. Stay safe out there!
