Andy Jassy Discusses Profitable Growth of Prime Video: Still in Early Stages
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy is really excited about where Prime Video is headed. He talked about it with shareholders recently and highlighted how important great content is to customers, pointing to original films, live sports, and partnerships.
Some of the popular original movies and shows on Prime Video include the Culpables movie trilogy, which had over 100 million viewers and reached number one in 170 countries. There’s also an upcoming film sequel to The Summer I Turned Pretty expected in 2027, ongoing work on the Bond franchise, and Jassy specifically praised the recent blockbuster Project Hail Mary, calling it one of the best movies he’s seen in the last five years.
In terms of TV shows, there’s a lot to look forward to on Prime Video, with series like Fallout, Reacher, The Boys, and many more in the pipeline. Jassy mentioned that live sports are a significant driver of growth for Prime Video, with 95 of the top 100 most-watched shows each year being live sports events.
He also highlighted Prime Video’s partnerships with third-party content providers like Warner Bros. Discovery with HBO Max, Paramount+, Peacock, Apple TV+, and others. According to Jassy, Prime Video is growing, profitable, and there is still a lot of untapped potential.
So, if you’re a Prime Video fan or thinking about checking it out, it’s good to know that there’s a lot of exciting content coming your way. Keep an eye out for new movies, TV shows, and live sports events on Prime Video—it’s only going to get better!
