Golden Eagles Secure State Tournament Spot with Thomas’ Complete Game Shutout
The Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles punched their program’s first-ever ticket to the State Tournament thanks to Brody Thomas’ impressive complete-game shutout and Caden Peacock’s game-changing double in a 6-0 win over Hendersonville on Friday afternoon.
Coach Chase Jones reflected on the team’s journey, marveling at the progress made over the years. From a disappointing 4-28 season in 2022 to a remarkable turnaround in 2026 with a young roster and no seniors, the Golden Eagles clinched a District 6-4A Championship and a Region 3-4A Championship on their way to the State Tournament.
With a 31-9 record overall, the Shelbyville Central team demonstrated dedication and teamwork to achieve this historic milestone. Remembering the foundation laid by past players and the culture established within the team, Coach Jones credited everyone involved in the program for their contributions.
Pitcher Brody Thomas delivered when it mattered most, steering the Golden Eagles to victory with a stellar performance on the mound. Allowing only three hits and no runs while striking out five batters over 7.0 innings, Thomas showcased his talent and determination in securing the team’s ticket to the State Tournament.
