HBO Max UK Launch Set for March

HBO Max is finally making its way to the UK and Ireland on March 26, 2026, and it’s bringing along a boatload of entertainment options for viewers. This new streaming service will be the flagship platform for Warner Bros. Discovery in the region, offering a mix of HBO shows, Warner Bros. films, and TNT Sports all under one roof.

When it comes to pricing, HBO Max has laid out four different plans for viewers to choose from. The Basic plan starts at £4.99 a month, offering 2 streams in Full HD quality and access to most shows and films, with the exception of movies released right after they hit the cinema. If ads aren’t your thing, you can opt for the ad-free Standard plan for £5.99 a month, or go all out with the Premium plan at £14.99 a month for 4 streams, 4K Ultra HD, and Dolby Atmos support.

One interesting thing to note here is that the level of plan you choose will determine the content you have access to. Unlike many other streaming services that keep their content libraries consistent across different tiers, HBO Max is mixing things up by offering different films based on your subscription level.

In addition to the entertainment plans, there will also be a separate TNT Sports plan available for £30.99 a month. This plan includes access to TNT Sports 1-4, TNT Sports Ultimate, live event feeds, and original documentaries. You can choose to get this as a standalone subscription or bundle it with selected entertainment plans.

HBO Max will be compatible with a wide range of devices, including smart TVs, streaming sticks, gaming consoles, and mobile devices. Subscribers will have the option to create up to five personalized profiles with tailored recommendations, Continue Watching lists, and kid-friendly profiles with parental controls.

For those who are currently using TNT Sports through discovery+, it’s important to note that the sports content will be shifting to HBO Max for streaming starting March 26. This means that even if you continue with the same subscription provider or price, you’ll need to access your sports content through the new app.

Furthermore, HBO Max will also be expanding beyond the Sky ecosystem, making its content available on various platforms and devices. This means that you no longer need a Sky subscription to enjoy HBO shows, marking a significant shift in accessibility.
