US Open Sets Record Audience Numbers on Eurosport and HBO Max in Europe

The US Open just wrapped up, and it was a huge hit with fans all over Europe. Eurosport and HBO Max saw record viewership numbers during this year’s tournament, making it more popular than ever before.

Eurosport 1, available in 45 European countries, had a 32% increase in viewership compared to last year. In Poland, the men’s singles final between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner was a big hit, drawing a massive audience. Eurosport France also saw its largest audience in ten years, with more fans tuning in to watch both the men’s and women’s singles final.

Eurosport aired a total of 260 hours of live coverage throughout the tournament, with audience growth in countries like Romania and the Netherlands. In fact, seven out of the top ten most-watched programs on Eurosport were US Open matches. Even the mixed doubles event before the main draw attracted a lot of viewers, especially in Poland.

HBO Max, which streamed every match live, saw its tennis audience nearly double compared to last year. Countries like France, Poland, and the Netherlands saw triple-digit growth, while Sweden, Finland, and Norway saw double-digit increases. Overall, the number of subscribers streaming the US Open increased by 86% compared to last year.

This upward trend in viewership follows WBD’s successful coverage of Roland-Garros earlier this year. Fans in Europe can look forward to exclusive coverage of the Laver Cup from 19-21 September on Eurosport and TNT Sports.

It’s an exciting time for tennis fans in Europe, with more opportunities than ever to catch all the action live. The US Open was a huge success, and it looks like the trend of increased viewership for live tennis content is here to stay.
