Disney Acquires Hulu and Launches Combined Disney+ App

Disney+ and Hulu have been two separate streaming services in the US, offering a range of content from family-friendly Disney titles to more mature shows and films. However, in countries like the Philippines, Disney already combines both services into a single app. Now, Disney is planning to bring this 2-in-1 combo to more countries, including the US, starting next year.

A few years back, Disney acquired Hulu from Comcast and now owns the entire streaming service. The plan is for Disney to merge Hulu into a unified Disney+ app, while still maintaining Hulu as a separate brand. Both Disney+ and Hulu will continue to operate with standalone plans, giving users access to a variety of content under one app.

In some regions, Disney’s version of Hulu called “Star” will be rebranded back to just Hulu in the fall. For those already in countries where Disney+ and Hulu are combined, such as in the Philippines, there will be no changes to their existing subscription. Users in these countries already enjoy a full range of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and popular Hulu titles under a single subscription.

If you’re a fan of streaming entertainment, keep an eye out for the unified Disney+ app with Hulu content coming your way soon!
