Preview of New Season for Bills as “Hard Knocks” Director Prepares for HBO Closeup
In just a day, “Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Buffalo Bills” is set to debut, providing fans of the Bills a unique glimpse behind the scenes as the team gears up for the upcoming NFL season.
Pat Harris, the show’s director and Rochester native, shared that they have a massive crew in place for this season. With about 35 people on the ground in Rochester and an additional 75-to-100 people at NFL Films working on the show, there’s a lot of manpower dedicated to bringing this season to life.
Known for showcasing the personalities of NFL stars, the upcoming season of “Hard Knocks” will not disappoint. One player to look out for is offensive tackle Dion Dawkins, whose infectious personality and charisma have made him a favorite among fans and the crew alike.
Harris also mentioned that other standout players like Josh Allen and Tre’Davious White, as well as the rest of the Bills’ offensive line, have been a pleasure to work with and are expected to be featured throughout the season.
Despite initial concerns about the show being a distraction, Harris reassured fans that the crew is mindful of the team’s needs and aims to blend in seamlessly with the camp routine. Team members have reportedly adapted quickly to having the production crew around, with the focus remaining on capturing the authentic stories and experiences of training camp.
While reality TV often leans into drama for entertainment value, Harris emphasized that “Hard Knocks” aims to authentically portray the camp experience without seeking out sensational headlines. The goal is to engage viewers with the genuine narrative of camp rather than manufactured drama.
The first episode of the season premieres on Tuesday night at 9 p.m. on HBO and will be available for streaming on HBO Max. Subsequent episodes will air every Tuesday leading up to the Bills’ home opener against the Baltimore Ravens at Highmark Stadium on September 2nd.
