Star Trek Starfleet Academy Trailer: Welcome Back to School
Star Trek is in a period of transition, with beloved shows ending and uncertainty about what comes next. But fear not, because the new series Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is here to welcome a new generation back to the core ideals of Star Trek. Set in the 32nd century after the events of Star Trek: Discovery, the show follows a new class of cadets at the famous academy in San Francisco. The trailer is filled with nods to Star Trek history, introducing us to a diverse cast of characters led by Holly Hunter as Captain Nahla Ake.
In addition to Hunter, the show features familiar faces like Tig Notaro and Robert Picardo reprising their roles from previous Star Trek series. New characters include a half-Klingon, half-Jem’Hadar Academy staffer played by Gina Yashere. The diverse cast of cadets includes characters like a troubled orphan, a Klingon aspiring medical officer, and the daughter of a Starfleet admiral.
Every good school needs a villain, and Starfleet Academy is no different. Paul Giamatti plays Nus Braka, a seedy gang leader with a mysterious connection to one of the cadets. The first season is set to premiere on Paramount+ in early 2026, and a second season is already in the works.
