Prime Video Cancels ‘The Bondsman’ After First Season
Prime Video has made the tough call to cancel Erik Oleson’s The Bondsman featuring Kevin Bacon. The show’s first season, consisting of eight episodes, all premiered on April 3. Alongside Kevin Bacon, the cast included Jennifer Nettles, Beth Grant, Damon Herriman, Maxwell Jenkins, and Jolene Purdy. In the show, murdered bounty hunter Hub Halloran, played by Kevin Bacon, is brought back to life by the Devil to round up and return demons that have escaped from Hell. Through this task, he grapples with his past sins and strives for a shot at redemption, alongside navigating his relationships with his estranged family.
The season finale, which will now wrap up the series, left viewers on the edge of their seats with a major cliffhanger. According to Erik Oleson, the show’s creator, this cliffhanger was intentional to keep audiences intrigued and hoping for a second season. The creator cheekily mentioned, “I made it intentionally difficult for Amazon to not give us Season 2 by ending it the way I did because I’m evil.”
Actress Jennifer Nettles found the cliffhanger ending exhilarating, emphasizing the high stakes faced by Hub as he navigates complex decisions to save his loved ones. Kevin Bacon, who plays Hub, expressed his eagerness for a potential second season, hinting at the compelling storyline exploring Hub’s deep connection with Maryanne amid supernatural challenges.
All episodes of The Bondsman are available for streaming on Prime Video, making it a binge-worthy option for fans of supernatural dramas. While the show may not return for a second season, viewers can still enjoy the existing episodes to dive into the thrilling world of demons, family dynamics, and redemption quests.
