Netflix Engagement Blame Game: Split Divides TV Executives

Happy Friday to all my fellow Emmy enthusiasts! It’s always a treat to see the excitement from nominees and how they celebrate in creative ways.

Today, I’m taking a break from crunching numbers to dive into the story behind Netflix’s recent drop in engagement. Plus, I’m looking at how Peter Friedlander is adjusting his plans for Amazon’s TV business and sharing insights from NBCUniversal execs post-split from Comcast.

But first, a scoop about a popular Netflix drama that’s switching showrunners. Have you heard about Courtney A. Kemp’s crime series Nemesis getting renewed for a second season? Well, there’s a twist. After signing an exclusive deal with Apple, Kemp can’t showrun the series but will still be involved as an executive producer. Netflix will bring in a new showrunner for the L.A.-set series, co-created by Kemp and Tani Marole.

Nemesis, starring Y’lan Noel and Matthew Law, made waves on Netflix’s top 10 English-language series charts for five weeks after its launch on May 14. And as for Netflix’s future plans, the streaming giant declined to comment.

Stay tuned for more updates on Netflix and beyond. Cheers to a weekend filled with great TV!
