ESPN’s Extension with Big South Conference: What’s On Disney Plus

ESPN has just made Big South Conference fans very happy by extending their partnership for another six years. This means you can catch over 800 conference events each year on ESPN channels, including their new service ESPN+, which launched in August. You can also access this content through the ESPN hub on Disney+ if you’re a bundled subscriber. This deal will run through 2030-31, marking 40 years of collaboration since it all began in 1991.

This extension guarantees the continuation of televised coverage for the Big South’s basketball championship games. The men’s championship matchup will air on either ESPN or ESPN2, while the women’s championship game will be broadcast on ESPNU. In addition, ESPNU will feature six events annually, including at least four men’s basketball games on the network, plus at least two more opportunities on ESPNU or ESPNEWS.

Moreover, the agreement grants the Big South the rights to broadcast up to 50 events per year locally within the Conference footprint. These broadcasts can also be found on ESPN+ for a wider audience to enjoy. ESPN+ will remain the exclusive digital broadcaster for Big South Network productions, which include football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, lacrosse, baseball, and softball. The Big South was actually one of the first college conferences to be featured on ESPN+ back in 2018.

Mallory Kenny, ESPN’s Director of Programming & Acquisitions, expressed excitement about the deal and emphasized ESPN’s commitment to showcasing the achievements of the Big South Conference. Big South Commissioner Sherika A. Montgomery also shared her gratitude for ESPN’s continued support, highlighting how this partnership will elevate the conference’s visibility and provide student-athletes with a broader platform to showcase their talents.

It’s clear that ESPN and the Big South Conference have a strong history together, dating back to their first national broadcasts in 1991. With this latest extension, fans can continue to enjoy high-quality sports coverage and support student-athletes on a national level. Will you be tuning in to catch the Big South content on ESPN?
