Liam Neeson ‘The Naked Gun’ to Stream on Paramount+ this Week

Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson’s sequel to Leslie Nielsen’s The Naked Gun trilogy is making its way to Paramount+ this week for all fans to enjoy. The film, rated PG-13, first hit theaters on August 1, followed by a digital streaming release through premium video on demand on September 2. The story follows Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. (Neeson) as he takes on the lead role in Police Squad to save the world, following in his father’s footsteps.

Leslie Nielsen, who originally portrayed Frank Sr. back in 1982 on the ABC sitcom Police Squad!, continued in the role for The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! in 1988 and two more sequels – The Naked Gun 2 ½: The Smell of Fear in 1991 and The Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult in 1993. Throughout the series, Nielsen was supported by co-stars Priscilla Presley and George Kennedy.

The latest installment in the franchise explores Frank Sr.’s investigation into the mysterious death of a tech genius under the employment of tech mogul Richard Caine (Danny Huston). Pamela Anderson joins the cast as Beth Davenport, the sister of the deceased, who teams up with Frank to solve the case. Directed by Akiva Schaffer with production by Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins, The Naked Gun also features a talented ensemble cast including Paul Walter Hauser, CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand, Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, and Eddie Yu.

For those eager to catch the film, Paramount+ announced that The Naked Gun will be available for streaming on Tuesday, September 30. During its run in theaters, The Naked Gun grossed $52.6 million domestically and $49.5 million internationally, totaling $102.1 million at the box office. The film had a budget of $42 million before additional costs for prints and advertising. Critics on Rotten Tomatoes have praised the film, giving it an 88% rating based on 319 reviews and a 73% rating from over 2,500 verified user ratings.
