Sporting KC vs LA Galaxy Match Preview

This weekend, Sporting Kansas City is heading to the West Coast to take on the reigning MLS Cup champions, LA Galaxy. The game is set for Saturday at 9:30 p.m. CT at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

You can catch all the action in English with Mark Rogondino and Heath Pearce or in Spanish with Rodolfo Landeros and Martin Zuniga. If you can’t make it to the game, you can watch with an MLS Season Pass or Apple TV+ subscription. Local radio coverage will be available on 103.7 FM and 810 AM with Blake Aerni and Jon Kempin. If you’re in Kansas City, head to No Other Pub in the Kansas City Power & Light district for a watch party featuring some great deals for fans in SKC gear starting at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

This match-up brings together some familiar faces on both sides. Sporting KC interim head coach Kerry Zavagnin and LA Galaxy head coach Greg Vanney used to be teammates on the U.S. Men’s National Team from 2000-2005.

One player to watch is Sporting striker Dejan Joveljic, who will be facing his former club after moving from Los Angeles to Kansas City in February. Joveljic spent four seasons with the Galaxy and led the team to the 2024 MLS Cup title. This year, he has scored 17 goals, making him the second player in MLS history with back-to-back 16-goal seasons in MLS play with different clubs.

Sporting goalkeeper John Pulskamp and midfielder Memo Rodriguez also have ties to the Galaxy Academy. On the other side, Galaxy midfielder Tucker Lepley and LA defender Chris Rindov have connections to Sporting KC.

Both LA Galaxy and Sporting Kansas City have a strong history in the playoffs, but this year, both teams have been eliminated from postseason contention. The defenses of both teams have conceded the most goals in MLS in 2025.

Don’t forget, the Galaxy will be playing Deportivo Toluca FC in Campeones Cup on Wednesday, so there’s another exciting match to look forward to.
