Turning You into a Content Prompter for the AI Streaming Platform

Filmmaker and AI enthusiast Edward Saatchi, known for his work with Oculus Story Studio, is diving into a new venture with Showrunner, a generative AI platform that aims to revolutionize entertainment. Saatchi and his team at Fable Studio are focused on making Showrunner interactive and engaging for users who want to create their own content.

Showrunner currently operates on a Discord server where users can generate short animated videos by selecting characters, art styles, and writing prompts. For example, want to see Elon Musk and Sam Altman having a conversation in an office break room about turning homelessness into a software as a service? Showrunner can create a clip based on that prompt. The platform offers a range of preset shows, like Exit Valley, which combines Silicon Valley and Family Guy vibes. The AI-generated voices and slightly stiff animations give the clips a unique charm that sets them apart.

While Showrunner is currently free, Fable plans to introduce a subscription fee in the future, ranging from $10-$20 per month. The platform is also aiming to expand beyond its original programming catalog and explore licensing IP from other studios, such as Disney. Saatchi’s journey with Oculus and VR movies led him to pivot towards generative AI, as he realized the potential for creating a dynamic and interactive entertainment experience.

The idea of a digital being, sparked by a technical challenge faced during a VR project adapting Neil Gaiman’s “Wolves in the Walls,” became the driving force behind Saatchi’s interest in generative AI. While the initial attempt to create a complex character like Lucy fell short, it paved the way for Saatchi to explore the possibilities of AI-driven entertainment. Showrunner embodies this vision of a new era in content creation, where users can be both creators and consumers in a world of limitless storytelling possibilities.
