Missing Peacock Apprehended by Trooper in Lisbon

In a heartwarming turn of events, a recent video released by the Ohio State Highway Patrol shows Trooper Derek Basinger lending a helping hand to a very unique fugitive – a peacock named Kevin! The colorful bird had been on the loose for two weeks before being spotted in the woods behind the patrol post on State Route 45 in Lisbon.

Trooper Basinger sprang into action, keeping Kevin contained until dispatchers were able to get in touch with the owner. With expert precision, the trooper chased the wayward peacock out of the woods and into a clearing where the relieved owner was waiting. Through the use of some enticing feed, the owner was able to safely secure Kevin and bring him back home.

The heartwarming rescue was caught on Basinger’s bodycam and later shared on the patrol’s Facebook page for all to enjoy. It’s not every day that you see a trooper involved in such a unique rescue mission, but it just goes to show that heroes come in all shapes and sizes – or in this case, with colorful feathers and a distinctive cry!
