Verizon to Discontinue +Play Service and Subscription Sales for MAX, Peacock, Paramount+, and More

Verizon, a major player in the telecom industry, recently made a big change to its streaming service strategy. They announced that their +Play platform, which allowed customers to manage subscriptions to popular services like Netflix, Max, and Peacock, will stop offering new sign-ups as of July 9, 2025.

This platform, launched in 2022, aimed to simplify the streaming landscape by letting users subscribe to multiple services through one Verizon account. It made it easy to handle subscriptions, from starting new ones to pausing or canceling, all in one place without dealing with different websites or billing details. Customers loved this streamlined approach, but now it’s coming to an end.

While current +Play subscribers can still manage their active subscriptions, the decision to stop new enrollments has people wondering about Verizon’s long-term streaming plans. Some analysts think Verizon might be shifting focus back to its core telecom services, like myPlan and myHome, which offer perks like discounted streaming for mobile and home internet customers.

In today’s competitive streaming market, where services are often bundled with telecom and tech providers, +Play stood out for bringing everything together under one billing system. But this move suggests there were challenges in maintaining partnerships with different streaming platforms. It could have been due to rising costs or complex negotiations with content providers.

Verizon hasn’t said if +Play will disappear for good or if it might come back in a new form. For now, they’re suggesting customers check out myPlan and myHome for exclusive deals on streaming services, cloud storage, and more. As telecom companies navigate the streaming landscape, Verizon’s shift signals a larger reassessment of how they fit into the changing world of digital entertainment.
