Sterling K. Brown to Reprise Role on Hulu in July: No Return to Paradise Season 2
Sterling K. Brown is making his return to Hulu, but Paradise season 2 is not quite ready yet. The talented actor is both producing and acting in an exciting new project called Washington Black, set to premiere on July 23. Based on the award-nominated book by Esi Edugyan, the series follows the story of George Washington Black, a young enslaved man with a passion for science, who embarks on a remarkable journey with his mentor, Christopher “Titch” Wilde.
In Washington Black, Sterling K. Brown plays the role of Medwin Harris, a town leader who takes George under his wing upon his arrival in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The show’s creators have expanded this character from the original source material to emphasize the themes of mentorship that run throughout the story. Executive producer Selwyn Seyfu Hinds explains that this decision was made to enhance the narrative and provide a counterpoint to George’s relationship with Titch.
The series will explore two timelines, delving into both young George’s adventures and the challenges he faces as an adult. Alongside his romance with Tanna and his encounters with bounty hunter Willard, viewers will witness the growth and development of our protagonist. Despite the complex storylines, the show’s creators felt it was essential to showcase George’s origin story and the man he becomes.
Sterling K. Brown has expressed his excitement about portraying the sense of community and mentorship depicted in Washington Black. He believes these themes are still relevant today, resonating with audiences across different generations. Behind the scenes, Brown not only shines on screen but also contributed significantly to the series, bringing a sense of collaboration and problem-solving to the production process.
While we eagerly await the premiere of Washington Black, fans of the thriller Paradise can rest assured that season 2 is in the works. Expected to debut in early 2026, the new season promises more twists and turns, with Shailene Woodley joining the cast as a “prominent survivor.” Series creator Dan Fogelman has a three-season plan in place, ensuring that each installment will offer a fresh perspective on the story and characters we’ve come to love.
Washington Black will be available to stream on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally starting on July 23, 2025. Stay tuned for more updates and get ready for an unforgettable viewing experience with Sterling K. Brown at the helm.
