BlueBolt on A Thousand Blows (Disney+): What You Need to Know

BlueBolt, a renowned visual effects house, made a significant impact on two seasons of the Disney Original series “A Thousand Blows.” In season one, they delivered 125 captivating visual effects shots, thanks to VFX Supervisor Richard Frazer’s leadership. BlueBolt worked tirelessly to transport viewers to the gritty world of Victorian London’s boxing scene, using a blend of digital magic to create a dynamic atmosphere.

Their work extended beyond the boxing ring, as they masterfully crafted digital environments for key story locations. From enhancing the immersive backdrop of bustling Wapping Docks in East London to creating a captivating aerial view of London cityscape, BlueBolt’s VFX work brought the series to life.

The dedication of the BlueBolt team continued into season two, where they produced an additional 107 VFX shots. What’s even more impressive is that both seasons, totaling twelve episodes, were filmed back-to-back. This required the team to balance multiple episodes simultaneously, all while maintaining a consistent visual style across the series.

Collaborating with six directors and showrunner Tom Miller, BlueBolt ensured that the look and feel of crucial locations and environments remained seamless throughout both seasons. Their contribution to “A Thousand Blows” truly elevated the storytelling and transported viewers to another era through the power of visual effects.
