Disney+ price increases across all UK tiers
Just when you thought you had a handle on your streaming budget, Disney+ dropped some less-than-thrilling news. All subscription tiers are getting a price hike starting on September 30. Monthly or annual, with ads or without – you name it, the price is going up. If you’re already an annual subscriber, your price won’t increase until your next billing cycle.
Curious about the damage to your wallet? Here’s the breakdown of Disney+’s new UK pricing, effective as of September 30, 2025:
– Standard with Ads: £4.99/month ➡ £5.99/month
– Standard (Monthly): £8.99/month ➡ £9.99/month
– Standard (Annual): £89.90/year ➡ £99.99/year
– Premium (Monthly): £12.99/month ➡ £14.99/month
– Premium (Annual): £129.90/year ➡ £149.90/year
That £14.99 for the Premium monthly tier is a pretty hefty jump. Remember when Disney+ launched in March 2020 for just £5.99? Oh, how times have changed. Even the ad-supported tier isn’t safe – it’s gone up from £4.99 to £5.99, the first increase since it was introduced in November 2023.
Not only have the subscription prices gone up, but Disney+ has also upped the cost for Extra Members. This feature lets you add someone outside your household to your account, but now it’ll cost you more. For Standard with Ads subscribers, it’s gone up to £4.99 monthly (from £3.99), and for Standard and Premium subscribers, it’s now £5.99 monthly (up from £4.99).
This price hike comes at an interesting time for Disney, especially after dealing with the fallout from suspending Jimmy Kimmel Live! in mid-September. The company faced a wave of subscriber pushback, highlighting some growing frustration with Disney’s policies.
Looking back at Disney+’s journey from £5.99 to £14.99, it’s clear the service has come a long way from its humble beginnings. Since launching in 2020 with a single package offering 4K streaming and ad-free viewing, Disney+ has evolved into a multi-tiered platform with different price points.
With sports offerings like the UEFA Women’s Champions League and new programming like Star transforming into Hulu, Disney+ is striving to become a one-stop destination for all types of content. But does all this justify a 150% price increase since launch? Only time will tell, and each subscriber will have to decide for themselves.
For comparison, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Apple TV+ all have their own pricing structures, so it’s worth checking out how Disney+ stacks up against the competition. With the new prices in effect, it’s a good time to reassess your streaming subscriptions and decide what makes the most sense for your budget.
