Howard Stern Cancels Disney+ Subscription After ABC Suspends Jimmy Kimmel: What You Need to Know

Howard Stern is showing his support for Jimmy Kimmel by canceling his Disney+ subscription in protest of ABC’s decision to indefinitely suspend the late-night host. Stern, known for his battles with the FCC in the ’90s, feels ABC shouldn’t bow to government pressure. He hopes the network will stand up and say ‘enough’ to censorship.

Speaking on his SiriusXM radio show, Stern criticized ABC for their treatment of Kimmel, referring to his own experiences with government interference and stating that it’s a troubling time when networks are threatened by government agencies. Stern finds ABC’s suspension of Kimmel to be “horrible” and has decided to boycott Disney+ in protest.

The suspension came after Kimmel’s comments about “the MAGA gang” regarding Charlie Kirk’s death, prompting pushback from FCC Chairman Brendan Carr and ABC affiliate station owners. Nexstar Media Group and Sinclair Broadcast Group expressed objections, with President Donald Trump also supporting the decision to remove Kimmel from the air.

Stern believes that ABC should follow the example of former CEO Mel Karmazi, who stood up for Stern during FCC conflicts in the ’90s. He emphasizes that networks shouldn’t give in to pressure from the government and that viewers should continue to pay attention and advocate for free speech rights.

Stern’s support adds to a growing list of celebrities standing with Kimmel and criticizing ABC’s suspension decision. Expressions of anger have led to canceled subscriptions by fans and fellow talk show hosts like Stephen Colbert, John Oliver, Bill Maher, and Jimmy Fallon. The hope is that ABC will reconsider its actions and uphold the principles of free expression.
