Weekend Streaming: New Shows and Movies on Netflix, Hulu, Prime

It’s been quite a week, filled with ups and downs. Despite the heavy news about the Charlie Kirk shooting dominating headlines, I’ve been on the lookout for some entertainment to lighten the mood.

First off, we’ve got a new thriller on Prime Video called “The Girlfriend” starring Robin Wright and Olivia Cooke. It looks like a tense ride filled with secrets and mysteries. Reviews are looking good so far, so it’s definitely worth a watch.

Over on Hulu, the fifth season of “Only Murders In The Building” is keeping viewers entertained — well, most viewers. I found the first few episodes a bit underwhelming, but I’m hopeful it picks up as the season progresses.

For the Downton Abbey fans out there, Peacock is hosting a special to celebrate the grand finale of the beloved show. It’s a nice treat for those who’ve been missing the drama and intrigue of the series.

If you’re in the mood for some animated fantasy, check out “Wolf King” on Netflix. It’s about a young man who discovers his royal lineage as a werewolf. Intriguing, right?

And for those interested in celebrity documentaries, Charlie Sheen is opening up about his life in a new two-part series on Netflix titled “aka Charlie Sheen.” It’s bound to be an interesting watch.

Looking for a romantic comedy? “The Wrong Paris” on Netflix might be up your alley. It’s a lighthearted story about a woman who signs up for a dating show expecting Paris, France, but ends up in Paris, Texas instead.

In terms of movies, be sure to check out “Weapons” on VOD. It’s a mix of comedy and horror that’s been getting rave reviews. I saw it at the theater twice, and even my daughter, who’s not a big movie buff, saw it three times.

And if you’re a fan of mockumentaries, you’ll be excited to hear about “Spinal Tap II: The End Continues.” It’s a follow-up to the classic film about aging rock stars that started the whole mockumentary genre.

Lastly, keep an eye out for shows like “Reunion” on Paramount+, a gripping BBC drama about a deaf convict on a quest for truth. And remember, there’s always something new to watch every week, so stay tuned for more recommendations!
