Adolescence: Netflix’s Popular Crime Drama Wins Emmy for Limited Series
Netflix’s crime drama sensation, “Adolescence,” took home the Emmy for limited series at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards. The U.K.-based show, praised for its unique single-camera shot approach, follows the story of a 13-year-old boy accused of a classmate’s murder.
Not only did the show win big for its innovative storytelling, but the talented cast also received recognition. Owen Cooper, the 15-year-old breakout star, made history as the youngest performer to win the award for supporting actor for his role as the young suspect. Erin Doherty, who portrayed a psychologist in the series, also scored a win for supporting actress.
The show’s creators, Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne, were celebrated for their outstanding work. Graham, who also took home the lead actor award for his role in the series, shared that “Adolescence” truly captured the essence of an ensemble project.
In addition to its Emmy success, “Adolescence” was also honored with early Creative Arts Emmys for cinematography and casting. The show faced tough competition, including popular series like “Dying for Sex” and “The Penguin.” However, “Adolescence” managed to stand out among the crowd, drawing comparisons to last year’s award-winning “Baby Reindeer.”
The buzz surrounding “Adolescence” proves its impact on audiences and critics alike. With its gripping storyline and stellar performances, this Netflix hit has left a lasting impression on the world of television.
