“The Powerpuff Girls” is set to be reimagined as a live-action series for The CW. The original cartoon, which first aired in 1998, became a household favorite for its clever mix of action, humor, and girl power. The updated series will follow the crime-fighting trio as disillusioned 20-somethings who regret spending their childhood fighting crime. As they navigate the challenges of adulthood, the girls will have to come together to save the world once again. The pilot episode will be written by Diablo Cody, known for her work on “Juno,” and Heather Reigner, known for her work on “Veronica Mars.” While exact release dates are not yet confirmed, fans of the original series are eagerly awaiting the debut of this contemporary take on the beloved characters.
