The Paper Cast Aims to Revive Interest in Print Media
The cast of The Office spinoff, The Paper, is bringing newspapers back in style—although, let’s be honest, they were always cool. On a recent Tuesday morning in New York City, just outside 30 Rock, the stars of The Paper, including Oscar Nuñez, Alex Edelman, Gbemisola Ikumelo, and Ramona Young, hosted a fun pop-up event to celebrate their new show, which premiered on Peacock on September 4th.
At the event, they were out there handing out bagels from PopUp Bagels to all those who came by and snapped some photos with “hot off the press” newspapers from the Toledo Truth-Teller, inspired by the series. While there was also a pop-up in Flatiron, the cast was hanging out at the 30 Rock spot.
The Paper, a sequel to NBC’s The Office, which starred big names like Steve Carell and John Krasinski, is set in the same world as the original sitcom and revolves around a struggling Midwestern newspaper.
Michael Koman, who co-created the show alongside Greg Daniels, shared with The Hollywood Reporter back in August at the premiere how they landed on the show’s concept. “Greg first floated the idea to me about doing a documentary-style show centered around a newspaper, particularly one that was facing some challenges.”
So, if you’re looking to dive into some paper-thin drama and relatable workplace shenanigans, The Paper might just be the show for you.
