King of the Hill Showrunner Announces Major Change for Hulu Revival
the series has been written and produced that fans of the original will likely pick up on as they watch.
One major change that has been revealed by King of the Hill showrunner Saladin K. Patterson is that characters in the series will be cursing more than they were heard in the original Fox broadcast. In an interview with IGN, Patterson explained that the team had discussions about how much they wanted to push this change and ensure it stayed true to the tone and character of the original show. The characters will curse more, but it will not be gratuitous. In fact, they had fun with the fact that some characters curse while others, like Hank, do not, creating opportunities for jokes.
Patterson also joked that Hulu may have made the team go back and remove some curse words to avoid a TV-MA rating. This shows the level of care and consideration that went into making sure the new episodes of King of the Hill had the right balance.
King of the Hill Season 14 will debut on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ on August 4th, with all ten episodes available for streaming at once. The new season will see additions to the cast, including Keith David as Brian Robertson and Anthony “Citric” Campos as Emilio. There are also returning characters who have been recast, such as Ronnie Chieng replacing Toby Huss as Kahn Souphanousinphone and Kenneth Choi, Ki Hong Lee, and Tai Leclaire joining the cast as new characters.
Overall, it’s clear that the team behind the new King of the Hill episodes has put a lot of thought and effort into delivering a revival that both pays homage to the original series while introducing some new and exciting elements for fans to enjoy.
